Our Mission

As a parent/guardian of a high school student you’re automatically a member of the HHS Home & School Association (HHS H&SA), so, welcome to the club! We’re a non-profit organization consisting of parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators who work together to support our students and the high school. Our primary objectives are to:

•  Develop, implement, and maintain an efficient and productive communications network between parents/guardians, teachers, and administration.

• Aid, assist, and support in the education of our children

HHS H&SA helps fund many wonderful programs, projects and activities including:
•  Scholarships for Seniors,
•  Decorations for the Annual Snowball Dance,
•  Junior Prom All-Night Celebration,
•  Financial Assistance for Community Action Projects, Guest Speakers, and Presentations,
•  Hudson Holiday Coalition (in support of high school students),
•  HHS Staff Appreciation Luncheon,
•  and so much more!

Meetings

We meet the third or fourth Tuesday of each month (NO MEETINGS in December or June) at 7:00 p.m. in Room A134 (Teachers’ Dining Room) at HHS, so, come on down! Our 2011-2012 meeting schedule is as follows:
•  September 20, 2011
•  October 18, 2011
•  November 15, 2011
•  January 17, 2012
•  February 28, 2012
•  March 20, 2012
•  April 24, 2012
•  May 15, 2011

Mr. Josh Otlin, Vice Principal of Grades 10 through 12, attends each meeting to share the administration's report with us and discuss various issues that impact our children. We cover a range of topics and would love your input.

Volunteer Opportunities
Like most organizations, HHS H&SA depends upon volunteers to assist with projects, programs, and events including decorating the cafeteria for the Snowball Dance; shopping for our donations to the Hudson Holiday Coalition; helping with and/or making food and beverage donations to the Staff Appreciation Luncheon; participating in the Junior Prom All-nighter Celebration in various capacities, etc.

If you volunteer in any capacity where you have contact with students, you need a CORI (criminal background) check. Simply fill out a CORI application in the HHS main office and be sure to bring a photo ID. It takes a minimum of two weeks to process a CORI; so, please do so early in the school year.

Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar, as we’ll need volunteers:
•  Snowball Dance, Friday, December 16, 2011
•  Staff Appreciation Luncheon, Wednesday, March 14, 2012
•  Jr. Prom All-nighter Celebration, Friday/Saturday, May 11-12, 2012

“No Sales Fundraising” is Our Modus Operandi
The HHS H&SA embraces the concept of “no sales fundraising.” That’s right… we’ll never ask you to sell magazine subscriptions, candy bars, cookie dough, wrapping paper, plants, etc. NEVER! Instead, we encourage parents/guardians to participate in various “no sales fundraising” activities and programs including—

Family Donation Program: We kindly request a tax-deductible donation of
$25 per student and we graciously accept any amount your family is able to
give. To download a donation form, please click here on Family Donation
Program.
Box Tops for Education: Simply clip Box Tops from hundreds of your
family's favorite products from General Mills®, Betty Crocker®, Pillsbury®,
Ziploc®, Kleenex®, and more. Collect them and send them to the high school
in an envelope marked “HHS H&SA.” And don’t forget to visit the Box Tops
Web site at www.boxtops4education.com and sign up as a participant. It’s
absolutely free and you’ll get exclusive online benefits!

Epties4Cash Inkjet Cartridge Recycling Program: We collect empty Lexmark, HP, Cannon, Dell, and Sharp inkjet cartridges and recycle them for cash. Collect them throughout the year, place them in baggies or the original boxes, and drop them off at the high school main office. It’s that simple!

Hannaford Helps Schools Program: Shop at Hannaford between (usually between early September and early December) to earn “School Dollars” when you purchase participating products. Remember to deposit your “Hannaford Helps Schools Certificate” in the kiosk slot marked “Hudson High School” at Hannaford after you pay for your purchases.

Stop&Shop A+ Bonus Bucks: If you own a Stop&Shop card we encourage you to register your card for this fabulous program. You must re-register your card each year. When you shop at Stop&Shop between October 7, 2011 and March 29, 2012 you’ll earn cash for the H&SA! Customer registration begins September 8, 2011, so, please register your card online at www.stopandshop.com/aplus  OR call 1-877-275-2758.
